GET READY FOR WAVE 2: HOP
THE GAP
When children and teens
are out of school, they can face barriers related to hunger, health, learning, water safety and accessing safe spaces, which prevent them
from reaching their full potential.
To help the public better
understand how the Y responds to these complex issues impacting
youth, YMCA of the USA (Y-USA) will launch a summerlong promotional
campaign called Hop the Gap on April
25. We'll use "hopping" activities and games like
hopscotch as a metaphor for how we help kids overcome barriers--or
hop gaps--to achieve more. By engaging members, parents, donors,
program participants and community partners in fun activities at
the national and local level, we'll build greater awareness and
support for our cause.
Hop the Gap activities
can easily be integrated into existing Y initiatives and
programs from Healthy Kids Day® to day camp. Be sure to watch
the short video above and then learn more by visiting Exchange and
participating in the first Hop the Gap
webinar at 2 p.m. (CT) March 3, which
will provide activation ideas and tips for bringing Hop the
Gap to life in your community.

STAFF ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITY
'WHY I GIVE'
"Why I Give," the first Living Our
Cause Movement-wide engagement activity in 2015 is designed
to help all staff and volunteers understand their role in
fulfilling our cause, show their passion for our organization and
share impact stories of our charitable work. In support of
Nationwide Campaign (NWC), this activity is a fun
opportunity for staff and volunteers to intentionally reflect on
and share why they support the Y as a cause and give to their
Ys' annual campaigns. Watch
the "Why I Give" video and then find
details and materials on Exchange to
help implement and share "Why I Give" at your
Y. Remember to use #BeCauseY and #YMCA when
sharing six-word stories on social media.

YOU ASKED
Can my Y continue to use Wave 1 membership
materials after Wave 2 begins?
Yes! Engaging new members is a year-round effort, and Wave 1
materials are designed to create a deeper understanding of and
connection to the Y as more than a place. Visit the BRC
to find new member communications tools and member engagement
social media posts to help people understand how they can do and
achieve more with the Y.
