Employee Referral Program

Employee Referral Program Update (December 2021)

Updated Description

Given the success of the Employee Referral Program thus far owing to the quality referrals Metro employees have made, we have implemented changes to the program (highlighted in red below) which will benefit referring staff and potentially lead to more referrals:

·       Referral payments will now be made in one increment for all classes of employees (regular and seasonal).

·       For regular, non-seasonal referrals, you will be awarded the full referral payment of $500 after the hired candidate completes 3 months of employment!

·       If you refer a successful candidate to a seasonal camp program, you will be awarded $150.00 after the hired candidate completes the camp season.

Program Rules

1. Referral Eligibility: All Metro YMCA employees, except Vice President levels and above, Human Resources staff, and managers with hiring authority over the referred candidates are eligible to refer candidates. Branch Executives, managers, and supervisors are not eligible for referral payments for anyone in their chain of supervision.

2. The referral date cannot be earlier than the date the job requisition is posted. The hiring of a referred employee must occur within 180 days (six months) of the initial referral date.

3. The referral must represent the candidate's first contact with the Metro YMCA for employment purposes. Temporary, contract, and former employees of Metro YMCA are not eligible candidates for referral awards.

4. To be eligible for an award, the referrals must first be submitted to Human Resources and must include a Candidate Referral Form.

5. The referring employee must agree to have his/her name used for introduction.

6. The first employee to refer a candidate will be the only referring employee eligible for payment.

7. Only candidates who meet the essential qualifications for the position will be considered.

8. All candidates will be evaluated for employment consistent with Metro YMCA policies and procedures.

9. All information regarding the hiring decision will remain strictly confidential.

10. The referring employee must remain employed by Metro YMCA to receive the 3 month or end of season payment.

11. Any disputes or interpretations of the program will be handled through Human Resources.
